One example of our community work is after a 6 month project we delivered in a primary school, Jan 2015 – July 2015, there was a whole year group that improved. The areas they improved on were socially, emotionally and their behaviour improved dramatically, thus not only supporting their current schooling, but better preparing them for their transition to secondary school. The changes were noticed by dinner ladies to parents, and the Head teacher has invited us back. The most important people who noticed the changes were the children themselves, which was measured in a questionnaire after the 6 months.
One young man called Charlie, was the most improved and went on to win a Games Master cup from us to celebrate his successful journey. His mum told me that he had pretty much switched off by Dec 2014, when we came along and did the games with the class, she said he could not stop talking about it and his attitude became enthusiastic and engaged back into his schooling! She was really proud of him and happy with what we had done to help his changes. He has asked if he can come and work for us when he grows up!
